you should have seen him [From The Thick, Wooded Glen]

You should have seen him…J. Brent Stewart, current bassist for the Ravenna J. Colt and former member of Les Debutantes.  I was there, right in the front row, staring him down like an animal.  I was an animal last night!  Brent played the bass with BOTH HANDS and managed to thump the crowd into the kind of frenzy you come to expect from a rock show at a bar throughout the last fifteen years.  Stewart was the solid part of the Ravenna rock, the fruit in the band’s apple butter, the A to John’s ‘merica, the best pun in a party-time funny book.  It was truly the best concert of recent memory.  Like my wife said (and I agree), “Brent really is a great bassist.”

They were good.  It’s good music.  If you want to hear music that has been MASTERED, RELEASED, FIXED IN THE MIX, and EMBROILED IN A FERVOR THAT AROSE FROM THE AFFECT THAT THE MUSIC HAD ON ITS LISTENERS….then check out the Ravenna Colt’s new album.  Brent Stewart, Les Debutantes will miss you, but we hope you find the success that Centennial would have given you if you’d just waited another eight months.
