Two Beach Boys On Drugs, Three On Egos and Greed
On Tuesday we recorded some of my drum bit and then we talked about some stuff. The Starlight Project (Eddie Van Halen, Brian May, Alan Gratzer, etc…), The Hand Thing, and then I remembered a couple of Beach Boys videos I saw on Youtube. The first video is an interview on Good Morning America in the early 80s and Dennis Wilson is…not right. It’s easy to find, just search for “Beach Boys GMA” and get ready to be sad and amazed!
The next video, see and click link above, is a live clip that I had a really hard time finding so I thought I’d lead you to it. This was shot during one of the many periods during which the “Beach Boys” would drag Brian out on stage in order to guarantee asses in the seats. In it, as the song starts, you can see Al Jardine look at Brian Wilson (who was looking at no one, the whole time), look at his guitar, and then look back at Brian Wilson. It seems obvious that somebody was doing something wrong. Al then walks over to Brian and asks him if he’s okay, or something like that. He wasn’t, although he said he was. Dennis Wilson appears to be quite happy, but by then he was, I think, always high.
It’s disturbing.
Did I mention that we recorded something?
I did? Good.
