Totally Gobble-in?

Busy business is afoot! First, an apology for a lack of posts inre: last Thursday.  Our time was spent primarily on Glen finishing up vocals on “The Tollbooth Pro”.  Of course, he’d THOUGHT that he was finished on Tuesday, but oh no, silly Glen. Because, see, I had ideas. BIG IDEAS. And so GLen was [...]

Thursday fails the music world

On the flip-side, Les Debutantes failed at length while preparing for the Fall of 2006, the time when Centennial was first released.  The electric harmonica parts though were never an issue.  So you can’t blame Jay “Dig-Dug” Hatchett for Brent’s failures.   See the photo below in which he pours his Kansas all over “Genderella.” [...]

Tuesday Recording Enlivened!

Usually Tuesday recording is a dreary affair.  Fortunately, this week a surprise guest showed up! There were smiles and laughs all around when this pleasant panda paraded past the pantry. I was pleased with my vocal takes on “Glass Window Panes”, having not really sung since September or thereabouts.  I’d made a prior arrangement so I had [...]

Tuesday Recording Disrupted

Usually, recording goes well on Tuesdays.  Sadly, this person showed up:   This wasn’t funny.  This intruder wouldn’t reveal itself, so we couldn’t concentrate on Glass Window Panes.  All this person did was write down messages like “I arrive at night” and “Let’s walk on the vent….together!” Eventually, Brent left at 9PM saying, “I don’t care about Glen’s [...]

As promised, pics from Guest Fest

All pictures were taken by and generously sent to us by Sir Thomas Blankenship. Never has there been a finer young man (though there have been finer young cannibals.) Danny tests the talkback mic. This is the face he makes before he uses the “harmless HVAC equipment” to suck the air out of the tracking [...]

The Key of Galactus

Thursday November 13th saw the return of our pal Tom, who is as fine a bassist as he is a fine gentleman. Hopefully we’ll have some pics soon, but for the time being suffice to say that praises from bass angels were sung unto Galactus.  Indeed, the All Bass All the Time composition “Devourer of Worlds” [...]

Guests, Pizza, Candy, Child Pants

Tuesday 11/11/09 was very productive! The album, she will be finished! We were fortunate enough to have the aforementioned Jim and Tom over last night to help out on a couple of numbers.  We feasted on pizza named after landmarks (I believe I ate the Water Tower) and bags of candy brought to us both by [...]

Back in the saddle again

This week saw a particularly productive return to the traditional two-night recording schedule.  Maybe it’s just the Obama in the air, but things are feeling strangely optimistic all around. As long promised, some pics of the new space: Danny at the helm. The POV is from the bed. We’d love to tell you about all of the [...]
